Buy Local
Did you know that you make a decision every time you spend money?
When you buy from a local vendor, 68% of that money stays right here in town and gets spent over and over. When you compare that to the estimate that only 20% of the money stays in town when you buy from a chain store, that leaves a very big difference.
You might ask yourself, so what? What is that 48% doing? It’s creating jobs here in Detroit. When you get a delivery from one of those 1-800 vendors, the only Detroit job MIGHT be the driver. Our warehouse guys are right here in Detroit. Our drivers are right here in Detroit. Our customer service staff is right here in Detroit. The same holds true of our sales staff, managers and even the folks who pay our bills and deposit our checks.
These people and their families turn around and spend their money here in town. They buy groceries and clothing here in town. They go to school. They buy cars and go out to eat. They go to the doctor and they go to the movies. They turn those dollars into jobs for more people here in town.
Local vendors also tend to pay more than the giant national retailers. They don’t buy sports arenas or have multibillion dollar advertising budgets. They don’t have to raise prices and lay off employees to keep their stock prices high.
When you choose to buy locally, you make your job more secure. It also pays better. You make the area around you more vibrant a little better to be in. And if you choose us, you can even come to our barbecue every summer.
